Fostering metacognitive awareness, interactive/flipped classroom models, teaching with/through historical primary sources, engaging with the digital humanities, collaborative/co-teaching across disciplines, student advising and mentoring

Research Interests

British and Irish history (18th century to the present), British Imperial History, cultural history/studies, comparative imperialism, Atlantic world, Latin America and the Caribbean

Personal Interests

Reading British, Irish, and Commonwealth literature, detective novels (especially the Golden Age of Crime), period dramas, going to live music (most any kind but especially jazz, folk, rock, and Indie), cooking, nature walks

Best Writing Advice

The "writing process" includes every aspect of what you do: thinking, reading, jotting down notes on a walk. Give yourself credit and recognition for the amount of work and time that goes into writing and revising.
