Bailey Dunn

I am a Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Ecology in the School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE). I received my Master of Development Practice (MDP) from UF in 2025. My research focuses on governance issues affecting communities in Southern Africa living near protected areas. I am particularly interested in community-based natural resource management (CBNRM), power dynamics, and the experiences of local communities within conservation initiatives.

As an instructor, I am particularly interested in helping students develop the skills to communicate complex ideas clearly, construct compelling arguments, and engage critically with different perspectives. I encourage students to approach writing not simply as a means of presenting information, but as a way to think critically, engage an audience, and participate meaningfully in academic and public discourse.

Outside of my academic work, I am also a poet and fiction writer. I see creative and academic writing as complementary practices, both offering opportunities to explore ideas, ask difficult questions, and communicate with others in meaningful ways.
