Maria Sellers is a second-year PhD student in the UF Anthropology department, and she focuses on the subdiscipline of bioarchaeology. Her current research seeks to understand funerary practices and lived experience of the Chimú on the north coast of Peru, and she spent the summer excavating at the archaeological site of Chan Chan. Originally from Greenville, SC, she received her BA in Anthropology and Biology from Vanderbilt University and her MA in Anthropology from George Mason University. Outside of classes she loves being outside, baking, and solving puzzles. She is looking forward to continuing her search for the best coffee shop of all time in Gainesville!
